Silgh Engineering is seeking a skilled and hands-on Wellhead Installation Engineer to join its technical team and support the successful installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of wellhead systems. Role Overview The Wellhead Installation Engineer will lead and support the safe and efficient installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wellhead equipment and associated pressure-control systems. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, field personnel, drilling and production teams, contractors, equipment manufacturers, and other technical specialists to ensure wellhead installations meet approved engineering specifications, operational requirements, quality standards, and HSE expectations. The role requires strong field capability, technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in demanding oil and gas environments. Key Responsibilities 1. Wellhead Installation & Commissioning Plan and execute wellhead installation activities in accordance with approved engineering procedures and project requirements. Supervise and coordinate wellhead installation, assembly, alignment, testing, and commissioning activities. Verify that wellhead components and equipment meet approved specifications before installation. Review technical drawings, installation procedures, equipment manuals, and engineering documentation. Ensure correct installation, torqueing, alignment, pressure testing, and configuration of wellhead equipment. Support commissioning activities and confirm equipment readiness for operations. Identify and resolve installation challenges promptly and safely. 2. Technical & Field Engineering Provide technical engineering support throughout wellhead installation and field-service activities. Inspect wellhead components and associated equipment before, during, and after installation. Diagnose technical problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and equipment documentation. Work with engineering teams to resolve technical issues and ensure installation integrity. Provide technical recommendations that improve equipment reliability and operational performance. 3. Pressure Testing & Equipment Integrity Coordinate and support pressure testing of wellhead and associated pressure-control equipment. Verify test procedures, test pressures, equipment configurations, and acceptance criteria before testing. Monitor test activities and document results accurately. Identify leaks, defects, abnormal conditions, or equipment failures and coordinate corrective action. Ensure equipment meets required integrity and performance standards before handover. Maintain accurate records of inspection, testing, commissioning, and equipment performance. 4. HSE & Quality Assurance Execute all installation activities in accordance with company, client, and site-specific HSE requirements. Conduct or participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, pre-job safety meetings, and job safety analyses. Ensure personnel use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow safe systems of work. Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and potential environmental risks. Maintain high-quality installation standards and ensure work complies with approved procedures and specifications. Stop work where necessary when conditions present unacceptable safety or technical risks. 5. Client & Stakeholder Coordination Work closely with clients to understand wellhead installation requirements and operational priorities. Coordinate effectively with drilling, production, engineering, HSE, procurement, contractors, and other project teams. Provide clear technical updates on installation progress, challenges, risks, and required actions. Participate in technical meetings, site inspections, progress reviews, and commissioning activities. Build professional relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, and technical stakeholders. 6. Equipment, Tools & Materials Management Confirm that required wellhead equipment, tools, lifting equipment, consumables, and spare parts are available before mobilization. Inspect tools and equipment to confirm they are suitable, certified, and fit for purpose. Coordinate the safe handling, transportation, storage, and installation of wellhead components. Report damaged, defective, or missing equipment promptly. Support effective control of equipment and materials throughout installation projects. 7. Documentation & Reporting Prepare detailed installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and field-service reports. Maintain accurate records of equipment serial numbers, installation activities, test results, defects, corrective actions, and approvals. Document deviations, technical issues, and change requirements. Support the preparation of handover documentation and equipment records. Capture lessons learned and recommend improvements for future installations. 8. Maintenance & Continuous Improvement Support preventive and corrective maintenance of wellhead systems and associated equipment. Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend measures to improve reliability. Participate in equipment inspections, servicing, repairs, and refurbishment activities. Stay informed about developments in wellhead technology, pressure-control systems, installation techniques, and industry standards. Contribute to continuous improvement of installation procedures, field-service practices, safety, and operational efficiency. Qualification Required & Experience Education Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Oil & Gas Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Relevant technical training or certification in wellhead systems, pressure-control equipment, oil and gas operations, or HSE will be an advantage. Professional Experience 5–10 years of relevant professional experience in wellhead installation, field engineering, oil and gas operations, mechanical engineering, pressure-control services, or a related technical field. Demonstrated experience installing, commissioning, inspecting, testing, or maintaining wellhead systems and associated equipment. Practical experience working with pressure-control equipment and oil and gas field operations. Experience working in field-based, technically complex, and safety-critical environments. Experience coordinating with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams will be an advantage. Professional & Technical Competencies The successful candidate should demonstrate: Strong practical knowledge of wellhead systems and pressure-control equipment. Understanding of wellhead installation, assembly, alignment, testing, commissioning, and maintenance procedures. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, equipment manuals, and installation procedures. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-finding capabilities. Knowledge of pressure testing and equipment-integrity practices. Understanding of oil and gas HSE requirements and safe working practices. Ability to prepare clear and accurate technical and field-service reports. Strong understanding of quality control and installation standards. Ability to work effectively with technical teams, clients, contractors, and equipment manufacturers.
