Staff Nurse – Plantations SOCFINAF Ghana Ltd Location: Western Region, Ghana Employment Type: Full-Tim Company Profile Plantations SOCFINAF Ghana Ltd is seeking a compassionate, competent, and dedicated Staff Nurse to join its healthcare team in the Western Region. The Staff Nurse will provide safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care to individuals attending or admitted to the Health Centre. Working under the direction of the Matron/Nurse-in-Charge and in collaboration with the Medical Superintendent and other healthcare professionals, the successful candidate will contribute to delivering timely, high-quality healthcare services. We welcome a caring and responsible nursing professional who can work effectively in a team, respond confidently to patients’ needs, maintain high clinical standards, and demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and professional ethics. Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Clinical Support Assess patients and identify their nursing care needs. Develop and implement appropriate nursing care plans under the direction of the Nurse-in-Charge. Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely. Monitor patients’ conditions and promptly report significant changes to the appropriate healthcare professional. Provide appropriate nursing care to patients attending or admitted to the Health Centre. Collect specimens and perform assigned clinical procedures in accordance with established protocols. Provide appropriate emergency and first-aid care within the scope of professional practice. Participate in ward and clinic rounds and provide effective shift handovers. Support the safe and timely transfer or referral of patients when required. Documentation & Patient Records Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records. Document nursing assessments, interventions, medications, treatments, and patient responses appropriately. Ensure all clinical documentation complies with facility policies and professional standards. Safeguard confidential patient and medical information at all times. Infection Prevention & Patient Safety Follow established infection prevention and control procedures. Promote a safe, clean, and hygienic healthcare environment. Identify and report potential risks that may affect patient or staff safety. Apply appropriate clinical and safety protocols when providing patient care. Contribute to maintaining high standards of quality and patient-centered care. Health Education & Patient Support Educate patients and their families on relevant health, treatment, medication, and preventive-care practices. Provide compassionate emotional and practical support to patients. Promote healthy practices and encourage patients to participate actively in their care. Quality Improvement & Professional Development Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives. Support activities that strengthen healthcare service delivery and patient outcomes. Participate in relevant training, professional development programmes, and clinical learning activities. Maintain professional accountability and practice within the scope of nursing regulations and standards. Equipment & Supplies Use medical equipment safely and appropriately. Check assigned equipment and report defects or maintenance requirements promptly. Monitor the availability of essential medical supplies and report shortages to the appropriate supervisor. Support the proper storage and handling of medical equipment, supplies, and medications. Teamwork & Communication Collaborate effectively with nurses, doctors, healthcare professionals, and support staff. Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Contribute positively to team activities and promote a supportive healthcare environment. RSPO, HSE & ISO Responsibilities The Staff Nurse will contribute to the organization’s safety, environmental, and quality objectives by: Complying with applicable RSPO and ISO 14001:2015 requirements, policies, procedures, and plans relevant to the role. Following all workplace health, safety, environmental, security, and emergency-response procedures. Taking personal responsibility for personal safety and the safety of colleagues, patients, and other persons within the work environment. Using company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and consistently. Properly managing healthcare waste and other environmental aspects associated with assigned duties. Understanding the organization’s environmental policy and the environmental impacts associated with healthcare activities. Promptly reporting injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, environmental incidents, and other hazards to the appropriate supervisor. Participating in toolbox meetings, mandatory training, safety activities, and incident or hazard investigations. Supporting actions designed to prevent injuries, environmental damage, equipment damage, and other workplace incidents. Promoting a positive safety and environmental culture through responsible workplace practices. Educational & Professional Requirements To succeed in this role, candidates should have: A minimum of a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution. Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMC). A valid professional nursing licence. At least one (1) year of post-rotation work experience supporting patient care in a healthcare facility. Practical knowledge of patient assessment, nursing care, clinical procedures, and medication administration. Knowledge of Basic Life Support (BLS). Understanding of health and safety principles and risk assessment. Knowledge of clinical diagnoses and patient management. Familiarity with clinical consultation and medication management processes. Knowledge of the Ghana Health Service Patients’ Charter. Familiarity with quality assurance principles in healthcare. Good knowledge of hospital or healthcare management software. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and data management. Strong customer service and patient-care skills.
