Silgh Engineering is seeking an experienced and technically strong professional to join its team as Lead Wellhead Engineer/Technical Authority. Role Overview The Lead Wellhead Engineer/Technical Authority will provide senior technical leadership and engineering assurance for wellhead systems, pressure-control equipment, installation activities, maintenance, testing, commissioning, and field-service operations. The successful candidate will establish technical direction, review engineering solutions, provide expert guidance to project and field teams, ensure compliance with applicable standards, and support clients in resolving complex wellhead and pressure-control challenges. The role combines technical authority, engineering leadership, field support, quality assurance, and knowledge development to ensure that wellhead solutions meet safety, reliability, performance, and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities 1. Technical Leadership & Engineering Assurance Provide technical leadership for wellhead engineering, installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning, and field-service activities. Act as the technical authority for wellhead systems and associated pressure-control equipment. Establish and maintain technical standards, procedures, specifications, and engineering practices. Review and approve technical solutions, engineering documents, calculations, drawings, and work procedures within assigned authority. Provide expert technical advice on complex wellhead and pressure-control challenges. Ensure engineering decisions consider safety, integrity, reliability, performance, cost, and operational requirements. 2. Wellhead Engineering & Design Lead the technical evaluation and selection of wellhead systems and associated equipment. Review wellhead designs, configurations, equipment specifications, and technical requirements. Verify compatibility between wellhead components, pressure-control equipment, casing programmes, completion requirements, and operating conditions. Review engineering calculations and technical documentation to confirm compliance with approved requirements. Provide technical input into equipment procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning. Ensure wellhead engineering solutions meet project and client specifications. 3. Installation, Testing & Commissioning Provide technical oversight for wellhead installation, assembly, alignment, pressure testing, and commissioning. Review installation procedures, Inspection and Test Plans, method statements, and technical work packs. Provide field engineering support during critical installation and commissioning activities. Troubleshoot complex technical issues and recommend safe and practical solutions. Review test results and confirm equipment readiness for operational use. Support technical investigations into equipment failures, defects, leaks, or performance issues. 4. Equipment Integrity & Reliability Establish technical requirements for inspection, maintenance, testing, repair, and refurbishment of wellhead equipment. Review equipment condition and recommend appropriate maintenance or replacement strategies. Support root-cause investigations into equipment failures and recurring technical problems. Evaluate equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and operational life. Ensure appropriate equipment records, inspection history, certifications, and technical documentation are maintained. Promote proactive equipment-integrity management throughout the asset lifecycle. 5. Standards, Compliance & Technical Governance Ensure wellhead engineering and field activities comply with applicable industry standards, client specifications, regulatory requirements, and company procedures. Maintain awareness of relevant international standards and recommended practices for wellhead and pressure-control equipment. Establish technical governance requirements for engineering reviews, approvals, deviations, and changes. Review and assess technical deviations and provide recommendations for resolution. Support audits, technical reviews, client assessments, and regulatory inspections. Ensure technical decisions remain properly documented and traceable. 6. Project & Client Technical Support Provide senior technical support to project managers, engineers, field personnel, and clients. Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, project reviews, risk assessments, and operational planning sessions. Act as a senior technical interface between Silgh Engineering, clients, equipment manufacturers, contractors, and other stakeholders. Provide clear technical recommendations on project challenges and proposed solutions. Support preparation of technical proposals, tenders, method statements, engineering reports, and other technical deliverables. Build trusted professional relationships with clients and technical stakeholders. 7. HSE & Technical Risk Management Promote a strong safety culture across wellhead engineering and field operations. Identify technical hazards and support effective risk assessment and mitigation. Review technical aspects of Job Safety Analyses, risk assessments, and method statements. Ensure wellhead activities comply with approved safety and operational procedures. Intervene where technical or operational conditions create unacceptable risks. Ensure engineering decisions consider personnel safety, well integrity, equipment integrity, and environmental protection. 8. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement Support QA/QC teams in establishing and maintaining wellhead-specific quality requirements. Review inspection, testing, certification, and equipment documentation. Investigate technical non-conformances and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Establish lessons-learned processes and use operational experience to improve engineering practices. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reliability, safety, and service quality. Promote standardization and best practices across wellhead engineering activities. 9. Technical Team Development Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers, technicians, and field-service personnel. Support the development of technical competencies within the wellhead engineering team. Identify training and development requirements and recommend appropriate programmes. Share technical knowledge, field experience, lessons learned, and industry developments. Promote a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. 10. Technical Documentation & Reporting Review and approve technical reports, engineering documentation, inspection reports, and field-service records within assigned authority. Maintain accurate records of engineering decisions, technical reviews, deviations, approvals, and lessons learned. Prepare technical reports for management and clients where required. Ensure critical technical information remains accurate, traceable, and accessible. Support project handover and close-out documentation. Qualification Required & Experience Education Bachelor’s degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Oil & Gas Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Relevant professional engineering qualifications or technical certifications in wellhead systems, pressure-control equipment, or oil and gas operations will be an advantage. Professional registration or membership of a recognized engineering body will be beneficial. Professional Experience 7–10 years of relevant professional experience in wellhead engineering, pressure-control systems, oil and gas field operations, mechanical engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership for wellhead installation, commissioning, maintenance, testing, or field-service activities. Strong practical experience with wellhead systems and pressure-control equipment. Experience reviewing technical specifications, engineering documentation, equipment configurations, installation procedures, and testing requirements. Experience supporting complex field operations and resolving technical challenges. Experience working with clients, contractors, equipment manufacturers, engineering teams, and multidisciplinary stakeholders. Experience in a technical-authority or senior engineering role will be an advantage. Professional & Technical Competencies The successful candidate should demonstrate: Advanced knowledge of wellhead systems and pressure-control equipment. Strong understanding of wellhead design, installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and integrity management. Ability to interpret and review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, procedures, and technical documentation. Strong technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities. Knowledge of relevant oil and gas engineering standards and recommended practices. Strong understanding of equipment integrity, pressure testing, inspection, and certification requirements. Strong engineering assurance and technical-governance capabilities. Ability to assess technical risks and develop practical engineering solutions. Strong understanding of quality assurance, HSE, and operational-risk requirements. Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. General Working Conditions Full-Time: Provide ongoing technical leadership and engineering assurance for wellhead-related activities. Field & Office Environment: Work across offices, client facilities, workshops, well sites, and other operational locations as required.
