The restaurant is seeking a hardworking, reliable, and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team with food preparation, cleaning, organization, and day-to-day kitchen operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to develop practical experience in a professional restaurant environment. Role Overview As a Kitchen Assistant, you will work closely with chefs and other kitchen team members to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and maintains high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and organization. You will assist with food preparation, maintain kitchen equipment and work areas, support stock handling, and help the team deliver meals efficiently and consistently. Key Responsibilities Assist chefs and kitchen staff with daily food preparation activities. Wash, peel, cut, portion, and prepare ingredients as directed. Follow recipes, preparation instructions, and portion requirements accurately. Clean and sanitize food preparation surfaces, utensils, equipment, and kitchen areas. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and food safety at all times. Assist with receiving, checking, and storing food supplies and other kitchen deliveries. Store food items correctly and follow appropriate food-handling and storage procedures. Organize ingredients, equipment, utensils, and kitchen supplies for easy access. Support chefs during busy service periods by preparing ingredients and maintaining an organized workstation. Assist with plating, garnishing, and meal preparation when required. Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and other kitchen equipment efficiently. Dispose of food waste and other waste materials according to restaurant procedures. Monitor kitchen supplies and inform the appropriate team member when stocks require replenishment. Help minimize food waste through proper handling, storage, and portion control. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen throughout the working shift. Follow all restaurant food safety, hygiene, health, and safety procedures. Handle kitchen equipment responsibly and report damaged or faulty equipment promptly. Support cleaning and closing procedures at the end of each shift. Work cooperatively with chefs, servers, cleaners, and other restaurant staff. Maintain a positive and professional attitude during busy service periods. Perform other kitchen-related duties assigned by management. Qualifications & Experience Applicants with relevant kitchen, catering, restaurant, or hospitality experience will be given preference. No previous experience? Training is available for suitable applicants. Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen hygiene will be an advantage. Genuine interest in working in a professional restaurant environment. Ability to follow instructions carefully and learn quickly. Good communication and teamwork skills. Strong attention to cleanliness and detail. Physically fit and able to work in a busy kitchen environment. Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and responsible.
