We are seeking a motivated and people-focused Human Resources Officer to join our team in Accra. The successful candidate will help create a welcoming, inclusive, and professional workplace where employees and volunteers feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute to our mission. Position Overview The Human Resources Officer will support the Foundation’s people-management functions and help build a positive employee and volunteer experience. The role will coordinate HR activities, maintain accurate records, support recruitment and onboarding, promote staff engagement, and assist in developing a healthy and welcoming work environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, confidentiality, organization, and a genuine interest in supporting people. Key Responsibilities Human Resources & Staff Support Support the development and implementation of effective HR policies, procedures, and practices. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation. Coordinate recruitment activities, including preparing job descriptions, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and supporting selection processes. Facilitate employee onboarding and orientation to help new team members settle into the organization. Support staff performance management, development, and engagement activities. Respond to employee questions and provide timely HR support. Promote a respectful, inclusive, welcoming, and collaborative workplace culture. Support staff welfare and employee engagement initiatives. Assist management in addressing workplace concerns and resolving employee-related matters professionally. Volunteer Management Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, placement, and engagement of volunteers. Maintain accurate volunteer records and documentation. Help volunteers understand the Foundation’s mission, values, policies, and expectations. Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments in collaboration with relevant teams. Support volunteer training, orientation, and development activities. Maintain regular communication with volunteers and respond to their needs and concerns. Recognize and promote volunteer contributions to the Foundation. Develop initiatives that create a positive and rewarding volunteer experience. HR Administration & Compliance Prepare HR reports and maintain organized personnel documentation. Monitor attendance, leave, and other relevant employee records. Support the implementation of workplace policies and procedures. Assist with HR planning and organizational development activities. Maintain confidentiality when handling employee and organizational information. Support compliance with applicable employment requirements and organizational policies. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Psychology, or a related field. Previous experience in human resources, administration, volunteer coordination, or a related role is preferred. Experience working in a nonprofit, NGO, foundation, or community-focused organization will be an advantage. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good organizational and time-management abilities. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong problem-solving and relationship-management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office or relevant workplace productivity tools. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
