Forklift Operator Company: Faith Group of Companies Location: Tamale, Ghana Employment Type: Full-Time About Faith Group of Companies Faith Group of Companies is looking for a reliable, safety-conscious, and hardworking Forklift Operator to join our team in Tamale. This role is ideal for an experienced forklift operator who takes pride in safe equipment operation, careful product handling, and maintaining an organized warehouse environment. As part of our team, you will play an important role in ensuring that products move safely and efficiently through our warehouse and cold-storage operations while maintaining high standards of safety, hygiene, and product integrity. The Role As a Forklift Operator, you will safely operate forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment to load, unload, move, stack, and arrange frozen food products within designated warehouse and cold-storage areas. You will work closely with the Warehouse, Logistics, Receiving, and Dispatch teams to support smooth daily operations and ensure products remain properly handled and stored. Key Responsibilities Operate forklifts safely and efficiently within warehouse, cold-storage, loading, and designated operational areas. Load, unload, lift, move, stack, and arrange frozen food products according to approved procedures. Move products safely between receiving, storage, picking, and dispatch areas. Assist with the receiving of incoming goods and ensure products are moved promptly to their designated storage locations. Support the accurate and efficient dispatch of products in accordance with approved loading procedures. Handle frozen food products carefully to prevent damage, contamination, loss, or spoilage. Maintain proper stock arrangement and ensure products remain organized and accessible. Follow warehouse layout plans, stacking requirements, product identification systems, and storage instructions. Conduct basic pre-operation checks on the forklift before each shift or as required. Inspect tyres, forks, brakes, lights, steering, warning systems, hydraulic systems, and other key components as applicable. Report equipment faults, damage, unusual noises, or unsafe conditions promptly to the appropriate supervisor. Do not operate defective or unsafe equipment and follow approved procedures for reporting faults. Follow all warehouse, occupational health and safety, hygiene, food-handling, and operational procedures. Maintain safe operating speeds and appropriate clearance when moving through warehouse and cold-storage areas. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly working environment. Keep forklift operating areas, loading bays, and storage areas free from unnecessary obstructions. Support stock-counting and inventory activities when required. Assist warehouse personnel with other material-handling activities within your training and authorization. Communicate effectively with warehouse team members, supervisors, drivers, and other relevant personnel. Report damaged products, spillages, unsafe conditions, or other operational concerns immediately. Follow instructions relating to cold-chain handling and product-storage requirements. Take appropriate precautions when working in low-temperature/freezer environments. Complete required forklift and operational records accurately. Participate in safety briefings, toolbox meetings, training sessions, and other workplace safety activities. Promote safe work practices and contribute positively to a strong safety culture. Perform other warehouse and material-handling duties assigned by management. What You Bring Qualifications and Experience Previous experience working as a Forklift Operator. Experience in a warehouse, distribution centre, cold store, logistics, or manufacturing environment is preferred. Experience handling frozen foods or temperature-sensitive products will be an added advantage. A valid forklift operating certificate or licence, where applicable. Practical knowledge of forklift operation, warehouse movement, loading, unloading, and product stacking. Ability to work safely and effectively in a cold-storage or freezer environment. Skills and Competencies Strong understanding of forklift and warehouse safety procedures. Excellent awareness of surroundings and potential workplace hazards. Ability to operate forklifts carefully and responsibly in confined spaces. Strong attention to detail when handling and positioning products. Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety requirements consistently. Good physical fitness and ability to work in a demanding warehouse environment. Ability to work in low-temperature/cold-storage conditions. Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage operational priorities. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, or extended hours when operational requirements demand it.
