Climax TV is seeking a proactive, resourceful, and passionate Field Reporter to join its newsroom and strengthen its coverage of current affairs, community issues, events, and breaking stories. Job Summary The Field Reporter will research, investigate, gather, and report news and human-interest stories from the field. The successful candidate will identify newsworthy developments, conduct interviews, verify information, produce accurate reports, and deliver compelling stories for television and digital platforms. The role requires strong communication skills, sound editorial judgment, curiosity, professionalism, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities Identify and pursue newsworthy stories, events, developments, and community issues. Conduct field research and gather accurate information from credible sources. Attend press conferences, public events, community activities, official engagements, and other newsworthy events. Conduct interviews with government officials, experts, community members, eyewitnesses, stakeholders, and other relevant sources. Prepare clear, accurate, balanced, and engaging news reports for television and digital platforms. Verify facts, names, figures, quotations, and other information before publication or broadcast. Develop story ideas and present them to editors and newsroom leadership. Gather video footage, photographs, interviews, statements, and supporting information required for news production. Work closely with camera operators, producers, editors, presenters, and newsroom teams to develop complete news packages. Provide live reports from the field when required. Respond quickly to breaking news and emerging developments. Monitor local, national, and community developments to identify opportunities for coverage. Maintain professional relationships with news sources, public officials, organizations, and community stakeholders. Follow established editorial policies, journalistic ethics, and professional standards. Protect the confidentiality of sensitive sources and information where appropriate. Meet newsroom deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality. Adapt stories for television, websites, and social media platforms where required. Represent Climax TV professionally during field assignments and external engagements. Maintain accurate notes, recordings, footage, and other materials collected during assignments. Requirements and Candidate Profile Demonstrated experience in journalism, reporting, broadcasting, communications, media, or a related field. Strong knowledge of news gathering, reporting, interviewing, and fact-checking. Excellent written and spoken communication skills. Strong on-camera presence and confidence when reporting from the field. Ability to conduct professional interviews and ask clear, relevant, and insightful questions. Strong research and investigative abilities. Excellent knowledge of current affairs and local and national issues. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight newsroom deadlines. Strong editorial judgment and attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with newsroom and production teams. Willingness to travel for assignments and work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required. Basic knowledge of video production, mobile journalism, photography, or digital content creation will be an advantage. Professional, ethical, curious, and highly dependable approach to journalism.
